Essential oil can be simply defined as the oil of the plant from which the oil was extracted. It contains the essence of the plant’s fragrance. Essential oils are made from certain parts of the plants like leaves, herbs, barks and rinds.
Essential oils could be used in food, beauty products, medicines, perfume etc, by diluting it. Although they are also used to lift your mood, but it may not be safe to apply on eyes, nose, mouth or private parts.
Essential oils are generally unadulterated and natural. But it is important to look for a trusted producer, who makes the essential oils without adding any chemicals. Also, if you are prone to allergies, firstly check with your personal doctor, for the oil type that better suits your skin and also for directions of use.
Do not use any type of essential oil more which is older than 3 years. It is because, the oil might lose its essence and may cause skin irritation. If there is a change in the colour or smell of the oil, it is probably spoiled.
Also, please note that essential oil is different from edible oil, which is used for cooking. Please check below to know how to use each type of essential oil.
Do dilute more, before usage by children and elderly people, because their skin might be more sensitive. Do not use essential oils on kids under 6 years of age, unless prescribed by your pediatrician. Also, store essential oils out of the reach of children.
